spaying and neutering

The Jerusalem Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has committed to promoting spaying and neutering of community cats with the goal of reducing the numbers of community cats in the city over time.

To further this goal, the JSPCA operates two spay and neuter clinics, one in the Atarot shelter, and another in the JSPCA’s Talpiot Veterinary clinic. JSPCA also runs an extensive TNR program (Trap/neuter/return).

Our team performs approximately 1,000 spay and neuter surgeries on community cats each year. The majority is part of our TNR project, fully subsidized by the society, and the rest are at subsidized prices, thanks to the generous contributions of our partners, led by the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, which has supported us for many years.

During the spring of 2026, the spay and neuter clinic in Atarot underwent a facelift, and starting in the summer of 2026, the operating room hours will be doubled in the hope of significantly increasing the number of cats and kittens that will be spayed/neutered.
